Reishi Immortali-TEA: How to make Reishi Tea

Reishi is an amazing mushroom! It has been used and consumed as tea in China for over 2,000 years due to its medicinal benefits.  In Chinese, it's known as Ling Zhi, which translates into the mushroom of immortality.  Reishi tea can boost your health too.  Check out our blog post to learn all about reishi and its amazing health benefits.

Makes 7 servings/doses

Ingredients:

  • 21-30 grams of dried reishi

  • 1 quart of water (1000 mL)

  • Honey (optional, to taste)

    Directions:

Start by breaking dried reishi into small pieces to increase the surface area exposed to the water.  Lightly boil it for 2 hours, followed by a 30-minute steep.  We’ve found that reishi has a way of staining stainless-steel cookware, so keep that in mind.  Filter out the solids, and your reishi tea is ready.

A typical dose of reishi is 3 to 5 grams per day.  This recipe provides a week’s supply for 1 person.  Consume 1/7th of the final product each day to get the proper dose.  Dilute your daily dose to taste with some extra water if desired.

Reishi tea can be consumed cold or warm.  It has a bitter flavor that can be improved by adding honey.  At Cloud Culture Mushrooms, we like the pure bitter reishi flavor just as much as we like it with honey.  Either way, you'll feel amazing after enjoying a cup.

Store extra tea in a mason jar with a tight-fitting lid and refrigerate it.  It will last a week or more if stored in the refrigerator.
